Spending your days watching different renovation shows while dreaming about how you would design your kitchen is a great way to pass the time! Actually remodeling, however, is a lot of money and effort — meaning that you may not be ready to do it just yet. Making doable changes that impact the quality of your life in a positive way is a worthwhile goal! Best part is, it doesn’t mean you need to do a full remodel. There are many ways to refresh your kitchen to make it a space you will fall back in love with.
Starting off with a clean slate is the best way to start any project. Cleaning will keep your kitchen in positive light. Start off with a deep clean, scrub every inch of the space. Don’t stop once it is clean, however, take this opportunity to rid the clutter. Broken appliances, duplicates of things that you don’t use and all the other little things laying around have to go! Make the effort to keep your counters as clear as possible.
Personalize the space
Time to have a little fun! Now that your space is clean and clutter free, adding your personal touch will create a space you enjoy. This is as simple as a new piece of art, new containers, or a new plant. (I recently bought an this for my windowsill, it honestly makes me smile every day) If a few small touches isn’t enough (and you feel up to it) try adding a new paint color. Also, create a DIY Herb Garden, or swap out some cushion covers to add another hint of flare.
Replace overhead lights
Replacing overhead lighting is simple and straight forward. Even the simplest things can completely change the feeling of the space. Proper lighting makes the space feel light, bright, and will make spending time in there more appealing.
Add storage solutions
Add a cute woven basket or two onto a shelf, under an open prep area, or just on the counter. Extra storage is always useful, and it is even better if it is cute! Having a way to keep things organized is a great way to make your space feel more comfortable.
Appreciate what you already have
Day dreaming is fun pass time, but there is something special about accepting things that are out of our immediate control. If we pick apart our lives, there will always be something more we want to change. There is no reason to keep a negative mindset in life. If you find yourself getting frustrated with the way things are, stop, and find the things you love. Whether this is in your kitchen, or your life, positivity is the key to loving and appreciating the things you already have!
