It is finally 2018, can you believe it? What was your resolution? Cutting out sugar, working out more, managing stress? Try adding this one onto the list: Making your home work for you. Kitchen convenience can reduce a lot of the stress in your home, and help with the diet part, too!
This is actually a resolution for myself, as well! Just last week, while cooking Christmas dinner, the fire alarm went off two different times. Now, I may also be a bad cook, but I know a large majority of the problem is poor ventilation. Not only are fire alarms loud, but the smoke involved from cooking is also bad for your health, and we all want to be healthy this year, right?
Adding a new vent hood, which actually has an outside exhaust, will prevent this from happening again! Hopefully next year Christmas dinner will be a bit less eventful!
If you have poor lighting in your kitchen, you probably have issues with cleaning up properly and may accidentally use cayenne instead of cinnamon because you can’t read in the dark. Adding under cabinet lighting and replacing your bulbs with fresh, bright white LED bulbs can really open up a kitchen, as well as, prevent eye strain and make your life much easier.
I don’t know about you, but I have this horrible habit of setting all my bottles and cans in the corner of my kitchen, in a box. I am not sure how it started, but it sure is ugly. This is another resolution I am working on. Creating a usable space for a few different trash cans, all for their specific needs. One for normal recycling, one for cans/bottles (things I get a deposit on), and one for my trash. Not only will this keep my kitchen and home more organized, but it will actually help the environment.
Now, in your well ventilated, bright, and more organized kitchen, you can focus on healthy, clean eating. Try decorating with fruits that you can grab when you want a snack! Utilize your new organized trash area by throwing away all those sweets that you are trying to cut out with your “New year, new me” attitude!
Happy New Year from all of us at Cabinet Cures.
